Inconsistencies in the classification and labelling of mixtures: are you compliant?

23/3/2020

Many non-compliant mixtures

In the context of the sixth EU-wide Enforcement Project which focused on the classification and labelling of mixtures, in 2019, 29 countries checked 3391 mixtures and 1620 companies (manufacturers, downstream users and distributors).

Among the inspected mixtures, 44% werent compliant, and 43% of the companies had at least one non-compliance. In addition, 33% of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) were non-compliant with the project's requirements.

The importance of having consistent classifications

It is essential for companies to correctly classify and label their mixtures. Otherwise, consumers and downstream users will not get exact information. Consumers, for example, only have access to a mixtures label and trust it entirely, which can have serious consequences. Same applies for professional users who often rely on SDSs: one third of the inspected SDSs were non-compliant with the requirements checked in the project.

Our added value

EcoMundo, thanks to its SDS Factory software, allows you to create 100% compliant SDSs. Our software also has a compliant label creation functionality, based on the classification and composition of your products.
