SVHCs: many obligations arise

Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) are substances that present a high level of risk to human health or the environment. These substances form the so-called Candidate List for authorisation. They may later join Annex XIV, which lists substances subject to authorisation, but will never leave the Candidate List.

Once a substance is classified as SVHC, if it is present in an article at more than 0.1% weight/weight, new obligations arise.

  • The presence of this substance must be notified to ECHA under REACH
  • ECHA must also be notified via the SCIP database under the Waste Framework Directive
  • The Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for these substances or mixtures containing them must also be updated.

EcoMundo supports you in every step of your compliance, from the identification of SVHCs in your supply chain, to the SCIP notification and the collection of certificates from your suppliers: our experts take care of everything!
