The substances in Annex XIV and the uses concerned
The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has launched a public consultation on 27 applications for REACH Authorisation. These applications cover:
- 40 uses of chromium VI compounds;
- 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC), used as a recyclable solvent and extraction agent in a closed system for purification of 1,3,5-trioxane;
- Bis(2-methoxyethyl) ether (Diglyme), used as a solvent for many syntheses of chemicals and pharmaceuticals;
- Arsenic acid, used for the treatment of copper foil.
The public consultation closes on the 6th of April (23:59 Helsinki time).
EcoMundo�s involvement
Among those concerned, EcoMundo filed three applications for authorisation to four companies , which covers 8 out of the 40 uses of chromium VI compounds. This includes the chromium trioxide, used for the coating of metallic articles for example.
