New substances added to the list
The Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern currently contains 211 chemical substances that are potentially harmful to people and the environment.
The two added substances are used in products such as inks or toners and in the manufacture of plastics and rubber tyres. They have been added to the Candidate List because they are toxic to reproduction and can therefore have adverse effects on fertility and cause toxicity to the development of children.
Substances added to the Candidate List on 19th January 2021:

The Candidate List under REACH
The Candidate List for authorisation (or SVHC list) lists all substances that are likely to be banned in Europe.
These substances may be included on the authorisation list in the future, which means that companies will have to submit an authorisation dossier in order to continue using them.
According to the REACH regulation, any supplier of a product containing a substance on the Candidate List in a concentration of more than 0.1% by weight must provide sufficient information to allow safe use.
Importers and producers of articles containing a substance on the Candidate List have six months from the date of its inclusion on the list (19th January 2021) to notify ECHA.
This notification is submitted to ECHA's SCIP database and the information will then be published on the Agency's website.
Suppliers of substances on the Candidate List (alone or in mixtures) must provide their customers with a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
