The United Kingdom continues to develop its post-Brexit regulatory framework. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has officially added 15 new substances and substance groups to the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) list under the UK REACH regulation.
This update marks the first extension of the UK SVHC list since the United Kingdom left the European Union.
Following these new additions, the UK SVHC list now includes 224 substances, compared to 253 on the EU Candidate List managed by the ECHA. Companies operating on the UK market must now verify the presence of these substances in their product portfolios. As under the EU regime, inclusion on the SVHC list triggers communication obligations within the supply chain as well as information requirements towards customers when applicable regulatory thresholds are exceeded.
